Breast cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed in women in Canada and accounts for approximately 30% of new cancer cases each year.
In 1995, breast cancer was responsible for the loss of 97,000 potential years of life in the female population in Canada. Less than 1% of breast cancer occurs in men.
