In Quebec, medical procedures for men are valued higher, ranging from 33% to 218% more than those for women, without any technical or medical justification. This situation sends a troubling message about the importance our society places on women’s health, in addition to having very real consequences.
The Association and its members are mobilizing to promote equitable access to care for women and to fight inequities that affect the profession. This undervaluation of care has direct impacts on women: access is more difficult and wait times are longer. Unfortunately, the situation is likely to worsen if things do not change.
