Dear colleagues, dear visitors.
It is my pleasure to write these words as I begin my term as
president of this association.
Firstly, on behalf of the Board of Directors and of the
Executive Committee, I would like to thank Robert Sabbah
for all his hard work as president over these past years.
It is a great honour and privilege for me to carry on our association’s
important mission so valiantly embarked upon

The AOGQ is strong and endowed with
multiple talents. From internal medicine to endocrinology
and to surgery, our many facets ensure that our specialty is
always booming and challenging.
Our devotion to women’s health is by now public knowledge.
We follow more than 45% of pregnant women and participate
in the birth of approximately 65% of Quebec newborns,
registering a satisfaction rate of over 95%.
Our advanced oncology services are internationally renowned.
Our assisted procreation program, which boasts
the lowest multiple pregnancy rate and a very high pregnancy
rate, is a shining example of medical excellence. How
we coordinate between high-risk pregnancy centres and
peripheral centres attests to our solidarity and concern for
providing the best care to our patients. These are just a few
examples out of the many!
We all make ourselves available whenever it comes to sharing
our knowledge in our roles as mentors to the residents during
their internships outside of the academic environment.
It is said that Quebeckers are tightly woven. I say that AOGQ
members come together like a real quilt – an outstanding
array of multiple talents and differences reunited to form a
The commencing term will ask continued efforts from us to
maintain our specialty’s qualitative value in the public eye as
well as within our associative life.
