AOGQ - Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Quebec

Dear colleagues and friends

It is both with pride and humility that I address you as president. First of all, I would like to congratulate and thank our outgoing president, Dr Corinne Leclercq, who has accomplished extensive work, during her tenure.

The AOGQ has an important role to play in the quality of care provided to Quebec’s women. I plan to be a great advocate of minimally invasive surgery and will do my best to promote expertise and technique, while supporting the less invasive pioneering surgical procedures.

The AOGQ plays also a crucial role in the political decisions, regarding services to the population and programs offered. We will have an important role to play in the media to denounce any policy that does not meet the needs of our patients, or that is not optimal.

Various matters, such as prenatal screening, medically assisted procreation and gynaecological oncology in Quebec, are typical examples, and I will fight to publicly denounce any divergence between the highest quality care and politically or economically motivated decisions.

I believe that our association will have to play a more prominent role in providing continuing medical education for our members, as well as for the general practitioners in the first line of duty. The term that is now starting promises to be challenging, and I will try to always remain open to your suggestions and your advice. I want to emphasize that I act as your representative, always remaining available to answer your questions.

I conclude by thanking you for your confidence and the privilege that comes with taking part in such a dynamic association and being its president. I deeply wish to live up to your expectations, being an ardent defender of women’s health.

Thank you and come back often on your Web site

DR ROBERT SABBAH

PRESIDENT
